McLaren Kuala Lumpur has officially introduced the McLaren 720S Spider for the Malaysian market, the 720S Spider launched for the first time 8 months ago.
As the name suggests, 720S Spider is the convertible version of the McLaren 720S Coupe, so the biggest differences in the design of the 720S Spider and Coupe are the retractable hardtop, power-adjusted rear windows and the new pillar.
720S Spider is built on the Monocage II-S carbon fiber frame structure – developed from Monocage II by the coupe brother. The aerodynamic system under the car has also been modified to ensure it is compatible with the new rear body and sporty tail wing (with a different set of movements than the coupe).
The retractable hardtop section includes a standard one-piece carbon fiber roof plate with electric folding / lowering mechanism in just 11 seconds, 6 seconds faster than junior 650 Spider. In particular, this convertible can operate at speeds of up to 50 km / h, more than the 650 Spider (30 km / h range) and also operates twice as smoothly as the first generation Super Series convertible. .
McLaren 720S Spider has a dry weight of 1,322kg, 49kg heavier than the coupe because of the hardtop system and the roof section. Even so, 720S Spider is 88kg lighter than rival Ferrari 488 Spider.
Similar to the coupe, the power of 720S Spider comes from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that produces 710 horsepower and 769Nm of maximum torque, accompanied by a 7-speed sequential automatic transmission. It only takes 2.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h. The maximum speed of the car reaches 325 km / h.
The interior of 720S Spider includes a 8.0-inch high-resolution central screen, integrating audio, entertainment, positioning, air conditioning and other convenient features.
The two-zone air conditioning system has been recalibrated to match the characteristics of the convertible, typically providing different operating levels depending on the position of the hood.
The McLaren 720S Spider “rides” on dual-weight 5-spoke alloy wheels, encased in Pirelli P Zero size tires 245/35 19 inches in front and 305/30 20 inches in the back.
Like the coupe brother, 720S Spider is available in three specifications specifications are Standard, Performance and Luxury. The car has a total of 23 exterior paint options, of which Belize Blue and Aztec Gold are two brand new additions.
The McLaren 720S Spider is on display by McLaren Kuala Lumpur during the launch event featuring the Memphis Red red paint (a limited choice). In Malaysia, 720S Spider has a listing price of RM1,218 million.
